CAROL WICKHAM COUNSELLING - Integrative and Bereavement Counsellor
How I work
I work in a warm and respectful way as I recognise how difficult it can be to make the decision to get therapeutic help.
I do not judge, give advice or tell my clients how to live their lives.
I believe that we all have the inner resources to make decisions and lifestyle choices.   My aim is to enable clients to re-awaken these abilities if they have been lost, and to discover their strengths in a supportive and safe environment.
Types of Distress
I work with clients who may have problems with Anxiety, Anger, Stress, Depression, low Self-Esteem, Confidence, Bullying, Relationship Problems and Break-ups, Self-destructive behaviours, Addiction, Eating Disorders, Infertility, Miscarriage,  Post-Natal Depression, Grief, Loss and Bereavement.
I have an interest in Eating Disorders and Addiction and work with the 12-Step Programme for Recovery with those clients who wish to do so.
What is Involved?
I see clients on an individual basis or as a couple for Couple Therapy.  I offer short or long-term therapy, depending on the presenting issues and needs of the client.
I  see clients at a mutually convenient time during the day.  I also  offer a few evening slots and work on a Saturday morning.
If you would like to meet me and arrange an initial appointment, I am happy to arrange this.  This does not commit you, but gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and decide whether you would like to work with me.
The Initial Asessment Session will last for one hour, during which we would discuss your problems, hopes and expectations.
Subsequent sessions last for 50 minutes, usually on a weekly basis which enables us to build a strong therapeutic relationship.
The Counselling can be either short-term (6 - 12 sessions) or longer term, depending on the presenting issues and client needs.  In longer-term work we would have regular reviews to assess how you are finding therapy, and clarify objectives, to ensure that you are working with me in a way that you find helpful.
Each individual session lasts for 50 minutes, and costs £50 for an individual and £65 for a couple.
I offer concessions for trainee therapists.
I work at the Ingledale Natural Therapies Centre  near Oxted, Surrey, which offers a peaceful environment, convenient parking and is about 8 minutes walk from Hurst Green Station.
